An Intimate Lakeside Summer Wedding
Monica and Zach got married at Stockton Lake in late July. This was such a special wedding for me to photograph. Alex and I lived right down the road from them in Kansas City for four years before we made our move back to Springfield. Zach, Monica, and their three children stayed in KC for another 3 years while Zach finished residency. Alex and I secretly hoped they would follow us back down to Springfield and they officially have!!! I am so excited for them. I was even more excited to find out they they were having an intimate wedding ceremony!!! Monica has been someone who has cheered on my business since the very beginning and I could not wait to give back to her. After all, she let me photograph her kids all the time 😂. (Even when my photography skills were not the best.)
These two planned to have their ceremony on an island in the middle of the lake. On the day of, plans had to change slightly due to high winds. The lake was white capping and it would be dangerous to try to dock the boat. To be safe, they chose an intimate spot on the shore and it could not have been more perfect. You can even see the island in the background of some of the photos! 😉. Following the ceremony, they took a boat ride with just the two of them and ended the night with champagne, charcuterie, and cake!
